\n * orgainising the process of receiving consturctive feedback on what you are doing well and areas to improve in teaching practice

\n * Trust and confidentiality of peer reviewer
\n * A chosen peer to visit rather than a line manager or person allocated
\n * Performance and Development culture adopted by school and it must be positively embraced by all!
\n * Time to discuss, meet and plan and evaluate
\n * Protocols and formalisation of giving and receiving feedback, whole school campus framework then peers establishing within that framework
\n * Follow up on areas to assist teaching practice and also share best practice of peers
\n * Documentation eg a personal PD journal, video footage
\n * Everyone needs to be involved - otherwise there will be a select group working towards PD requirements
\n
\nPotential Inhibitors
\n
\n * The culture of the school - "We are perfect already" or "If I seek assistance for improvement I am not coping". We should adopt a Kaizen approach - Total Quality Management where the staff are looking to achieve bench marks in best practice and look for new ways to improve what we do or share what we do well
\n * Threatening if forced upon, so perhaps a gradual move to all taking on board
\n * Time constraints
\n * Insufficient knowledge of subject area, teaching style, history of student relationships
\n * What happens if other issues are a concern or fabulous practices occurs and as the observer you have not agreed upon to discuss or share
\n * Not having the follow up to improve or share
\n * Relationship breakdown and disagreement of practice methodologies
\n
\nWhat could this look like at Varsity College
\n
\n 1. Establish a coordinator to drive and have a long term plan to aim towards eg start within departments, then cross campus', share at SFD over 5 year
\n 2. Set up peer support relationship ie area of focus, how feedback given and recorded and meeting and follow up
\n 3. Aim to focus on one area a term
\n
\n For example
\n
\n Term one Introduction of lesson and behaviour management
\n
\n Term two Challenging unit preparation, Reporting or assessment item
\n
\n Term three Conclusions and questioning techniques
\n
\n Term four ICT skills, literacy and numeracy
\n
\n or specific area chosen by teacher, having troubles getting a discussion going
\n
\n * Begining teachers and contract teachers could also be part of the process and have more intense sessions.
\n * Staff to create a PD journal and use of video footage to support others.
